Using Drama Therapy Techniques in Counselling

This Course Is For Both Qualified And Trainee Counsellors And Psychotherapists Who May Be Considering Using Creative Techniques In Their Practice Or For Continuing Professional Development.
Norma Jean Morrison (The Rewise Project) and Lyla Smith-Abass (Shades of Black Theatre TTS) have worked together over a number of years in London. Both are person centred counsellors and clinical supervisors. Together they bring with them over 21 years of clinical practice in Counselling and using creative methods in therapy.
We are offering an exciting creative course which brings theatre processes and counselling disciplines together. The course will trace the origins of using drama as a therapeutic technique and explore embodiment, projection and role play within the therapeutic experience as well as the use of theatre for therapeutic benefit. Participants will work experientially,work is informed by drama therapy theory.
This 12 session course runs over 6 weeks on a Friday and Saturday between 21st February 2020 and 3rd April 2020

Saturday 22nd February 2020 - 10am to 4pm

Participans will come away with an understanding and awareness of:
How psychology and drama work side by side for therapeutic benefit
How creative arts can support the emotional healing of individuals or groups
The use of theatre and drama based activities in therapy
Drama therapy theories and principles and the role of a drama therapist
(Includes all art materials and light refreshments.)
